More than 80 youth from various villages in the Municipality of Trento participated in the Municipal Youth Peace Camp 2019 on November 8-10, 2019 at Trento National High School.

The event was spearheaded by the 25th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army alongside the Youth for Peace Movement and the Local Government Unit in Trento.

The three-day camp was conducted in accordance with Executive Order No. 70 Series of 2018 implementing the Whole-of-Nation Approach that aims at achieving enduring peace in communities where problems arise.

In line with the theme “Malinawong Trento: Ascending to Genuine Peace-Building for a Higher Ground of Youth Empowerment”, the three-day youth camp featured a variety of activities focused at educating youth leaders on the value of peace and solidarity of the people as citizens of a community.

On its opening day, while the Municipal Administrator Celine Paula Calvez challenged the youth, 2Lt Kimberly Lapao and 1Lt Desmond Castillo discussed the peace-and-order situation of the municipality, its problems and possible solutions.

Forester Ludivina Cornella, the current Gender and Development focal person of the LGU, was also engaged to teach the participants the importance of understanding and achieving genuine peace in the town.

The three-day program included games, plenary sessions on unity and peace, cultural fellowships, and contests such as News Writing, Impromptu Speaking, Song Writing, Poster Making, Essay Writing, Logo Designing, Photojournalism, and Guidon Presentation.

Youth for Peace Movement Trento President Ronie Prencillo hopes that by the end of the peace camp, everyone participating in the program will become models of youth, and that they will be responsible to serve their respective villages.
